SCOTLAND

January 2019

Another epic road trip to Scotland!!

This has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth and I've been lucky enough to capture it at it's best. I wouldn't say it was easy clocking up 2,200 miles in some serious winter conditions but it was certainly worth the effort.

I was based in Glencoe for five days and then spent the two remaining days on the Isle Of Skye.

Not every location on the list was achieved but I was happy with the ones I did, Icy roads made life difficult and sometimes had to abandon vehicle to get there by foot.

Leaving the cabin was a struggle at times until the road had thawed, so I spent some mornings capturing images along the River Coe to Loch Achtriochtan.

A large percentage of time was spent driving the A82 along Rannoch Moor capturing snowy trees and stunning light on the Mountains. An expanse of around 50 square miles (130 km²) of moorland to the west of Loch Rannoch, where it extends from and into westerly Perth and Kinross, northerly Lochabar, and the area of Highland Scotland toward its south-west, northern Argyle and Bute.

In these winter conditions it can almost feel like your on a different planet.

GLENCOE & GLEN ETIVE

Driving along the River Etive you see many tributary streams that join together at locations such as the Kings House Hotel near to Glencoe. The river then runs into a sea loch, Loch Etive.

ISLE OF SKYE

Isle Of Skye is the largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland.

The first location on the list had to be Elgol. A place I've never visited but it always looks amazing. The road from Broadford to Elgol is a good 14 miles but its certainly worth looking for compositions along the way. The reeds on Loch Cill Chriosd caught my attention as I looked back towards a reflecting Bla Bheinn.
